How can I join Davis Journal of Legal Studies?

Davis Journal of Legal Studies holds recruitment for our editorial team in the fall. Applications for editors are currently OPEN until November 17th, and applicants will know about the status of their application by early December.

You can still submit your work to be considered for publication! Our submissions open in Fall Quarter and close at the end of the calendar year. Please consider sending us your work – we would love to consider it for publication in one of our volumes!

When are volumes published?

We publish our annual volume in Spring Quarter.

How can I read the published journals?

Our volumes are available to read on our website and at Shields Library in the Archives and Special Collections department.

Who can submit their work to Davis Journal of Legal Studies?

We accept submissions from undergraduates at all US universities.

How can I know whether my piece is suitable for Davis Journal of Legal Studies?

Please refer to our Volumes page and review our previous volume to determine if your piece is an appropriate fit. Additionally, please review our submission guidelines. Please do not email the editorial team with questions regarding whether a piece is appropriate for DJLS or not.

What programs and organizations have partnered with Davis Journal of Legal Studies?

Davis Journal of Legal Studies is a registered CSI organization at UC Davis. We have received the VOICE Initiative award from the UC National Center for Free Speech and Civic Engagement and the Provost Undergraduate Fellowship from the Undergraduate Research Center. We also work closely with the University Honors Program and University Writing Program.

Does serving on the editorial team for Davis Journal of Legal Studies count as community service?

Serving on the editorial team fulfills the Year 3 Community Service requirement for the University Honors Program (UHP). Please discuss with the editor-in-chief and Kate Stephensen to confirm your UHP service hours. For other community service programs and requirements, please discuss service eligibility with your supervisor.
